Situated south of Myrtle Beach, Brookgreen Gardens is 9,200 acres of spectacular display gardens in a natural setting of forested and fresh tidal swamps, salt marsh and sandy ridges. Founded in 1931 by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark with one of the most significant worldwide collections of figurative sculpture by American artists in an outdoor setting, and has the only zoo accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association on the coast of the Carolinas.
